Becoming An Autoimmune Overcomer

At the age of 29 while pregnant with my second child in 1995 I broke out with a rash on my face, mainly around my nose and forehead. I thought once I deliver it will probably go away I thought it was probably my hormones going wacko.

After I delivered it actually got worse. By then it was weeping off my face with dry skin and little puss like pustules. I decided to make an appointment with a dermatologist. To this day I don’t remember his name or even where his office is. I must of looked him up in our insurance directory.

I remember my son was about 7 months old when I went to my appointment. I know there was conversation but all I can remember to this day was he asked me when did the rash begin I said while I was pregnant with my son. I remember his facial expression changed and it looked a little worried. He said I’m going to order labs. He scheduled a follow-up appointment said I had seborrhea and put me antibiotics. The antibiotics cleared up my skin pretty good, but the rash and pustules would come back. When I went back to my appointment the doctor told me I have good new and bad news. The good news is you don’t have lupus but the bad news is you have CREST syndrome. He advised me to find a rheumatologist and if I get to feeling bad get to an emergency room immediately. So my journey begins.

Hi my name is Diane (a) Overmiller and I am so happy you have taken the time to read my “about me” page. I hope you continue to follow me on my journey to health.
